Considering Baptism?

When you are baptizedyou are making a public testimony outwardly to what the Lord Jesus Christ has already done inwardly.  When a person is baptized he or she is identifying with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.  You are declaring that you are now dead to this world and are now raised to new life in Jesus Christ (Romans 6:4-5).  Repentance is a change of mind and purpose toward God, prompted by the Holy Spirit, and is an integral part of saving faith.  Repentance is a change of mind that leads to obedience.  Baptism is the first step of obedience to the Lord for the new Christian.

The proper mode of baptism as laid out in the scriptures is believer's baptism.  The Greek word for baptism in the bible is baptizō which means, to dip, or to dunk.  Therefore the proper mode for baptism is immersion.  For more information see here.

It is important to remember that baptism does not save anybody.  There is nothing you can do to earn or deserve your salvation.  Check here.  In fact, a true believer in Jesus Christ will desire to turn from the life they were living, to the new life in Christ.  This is called repentance.  This is only accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit.  There is only 1 requirement that needs to be met by someone who desires baptism:

The person must  trust (faith) in Jesus Christ alone for salvation (Acts 8:35-38Acts 16:30-31).

If you have trusted in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, you understand that baptism is the next step in your obedience to Christ and you have the desire to be baptized; then there is nothing that should prevent you from being baptized.  Please contact us if that is your desire.
