The Bradleys in England - Rope Holder's Review
July 2019 …
Dear Westwood Baptist,
Below are some highlights from the 2nd quarter of 2019 …
Youth for Christ Team …We were gifted’ a team of 6 graduating seniors and 2 sponsors to assist us over a 6 day period. They served in our community, church and local primary school. They brought credibility regarding the ‘involvement of Christian faith’ in every area! It was extremely busy - but well worth the time investment. On three days they helped at Shiney Row Primary. In the afternoons we ran an after school club with as many as 45 children and 80 (w/parents) joining us for the final day Family BBQ!
Building Upgrades … We raised money and purchased ‘used’ commercial carpet squares that should cover half of our building. I hope to have them installed within the 3rd quarter. The cost was £230! This should substantially improve the appearance of our building.
Father’s Day Sunday … We had a fantastic Pie & Pea Supper (Northern folk like this!) for a featured Sunday. We invited everyone from our community groups and many came along. The YFC team helped in serving, singing and giving vibrant testimonies of their faith. It was very simple, practical and spiritually moving. On the night we had over 55 people. It was fantastic!
New Sisters … In June we had two conversions. Ali, a grandma, has been coming along for about 1-1/2 years. In the midst of a Monday Bible Study, she asked, ‘What does it mean to be born again?’ Several quickly answered … and you could see she was thinking. After closing down the church, Ali and I few others were standing at the front door, she said, ‘What can’t I be born again right now?’ And, she was! She has since been telling many friends and family members! Faye is the mum to 10-year-old Emilia, who professed Jesus on Feb 27th. She came to church on Father’s Day. Afterwards, I walked them home. Faye told me of a conversation with Emilia. Emelia is adamant that God is her Father – interesting conversation indeed! On Thursday of that week, Faye came running down the walk as I did the church gardens. We talked for over an hour regarding faith and trusting God. A lady and I prayed with her. The next day she messaged me that she too is now forgiven and following God. Faye has been telling others too! Long way to go, but by all appearance, she is a forgiven sinner!
Men’s Weekend in The Lakes … approx. 20 ‘church’ lads and 20 ‘homeless’ lads joined together for this yearly weekend away. Two lads, Davey and Liam made tearful professions of faith in Jesus! It was fantastic!
Governor @ Shiney Row Primary … For 1 year, I have been serving in the role of governor of the local school. The involvement of YFC in the school over 3 days appears to have turned many heads regarding ‘church’ involvement. We may be allowed to teach the ‘Christianity’ section of RE next school year … amazing!
Craft Club/Guitar Club/Coffee Morning …These are 3 ways we are ‘open’ for the community. The craft club has 14-18 ladies weekly and they are using their ‘craftiness’ for local and Christian charities. The Guitar club has recently completed 2 of 3 end-of-term concerts … over 50 attending. Coffee Morning serves 12-20 seniors weekly … some of which have come to special services.
In conclusion, the pace of life/ministry continues at a fast clip … and we are grateful for the addition of Andrea Clark to our team. Thank you for your prayer support. Regarding finance, our monthly support has been down $200/month for some time … and that has drained our account. Any gifts would be helpful. Thank you for being a Rope Holder!
Out & Out for Jesus,
Mike & June
