Good News of Great Joy
Luke 2:10-11 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Story: I can take God for granted, and so treat an interaction with Him like reading His Word and/or prayer as ordinary. But He remains the Almighty God who is holy, holy, holy. So when the angel appears to the shepherds, the fear isn’t the surprise; or the shock of the dark night blazing with light. It’s the holy glory of the awesome God with the angel. And the instant recognition of the shepherds of their unworthiness because of sin to be in this holy place. But what the angel has to say has everything to do with the problem of the shepherd’s sin before a holy God. Because this night, the Savior of the world has been born. Christ the Lord will rescue people from their sin, giving His life so as to give salvation. This is good news of great joy for all people!
My Prayer Response: Father, forgive me for taking You for granted. Forgive me also for being used to my sin, and this indifferent to this offense to You. Being in Your presence right now as I pray is a holy place, and a precious privilege. Thank You for this that I have in Christ my Lord! Teach me to treasure this great salvation. And to be concerned of reaching others with this good news of great joy.
May you take great joy in each moment you spend in God’s presence!
