For in Him [Jesus] all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority. Colossians 2:9-10
Standing in the shallow ocean, I feel the push of the incoming waves, and then the pull of the water draining back out to sea. For the small waves, I am strong enough to remain unmoved. But not for the bigger waves!
Kings and Presidents and Prime Ministers might be powerful, but they are still under the influence of strong currents. Promises made for peace or lower taxes are often broken. So what about Jesus as king? Can we trust His promises? Or is He also influenced by strong currents of power?
Jesus is head over all rule and authority. No one can push, pull, or manipulate Him in any direction – even a little step. He also is fully God in human form, being fully sovereign, Almighty, omnipotent. Jesus is not just powerful, but all powerful. His promises will always come to pass. He will never leave you or forsake you!
A Prayer: Jesus, how great are You! In You is all rule and authority, and no one or no thing can influence You. Knowing Your supreme power, we gladly place our cares into Your hands!
