“No one has ever seen God. The only One [Jesus], Himself God, who is in closest fellowship with the Father, has made God known.” John 1:18
Welcome to December and welcome to advent! What is advent? It’s what many Christians have used for hundreds of years to think through the coming of Christ at Christmas. To help us with this, I am sending you daily devotional emails on advent, focusing on who Jesus is as we prepare for His coming.
Learning the Who of Christmas is How you trust Him with your cares. Wait, what? As we go through advent, we don’t just want to learn what happened at Christmas; or even why it happened. These are good, but they all lead to the Who of Christmas. We must learn the character of Jesus, so that we trust Him with the cares and problems of our lives.
Jesus is Immanuel, God with us. He left heaven to live in human flesh among people like us. And Jesus didn’t come as a fully grown adult, but arrived like we did: as a newborn baby. That is astounding! Jesus is completely able to relate to you and me, because He has lived our life. And because He is God, has seen God, and had closest fellowship with God, He can completely explain and make God known to us. What a Savior!
A Prayer: Father, teach us more and more about Jesus. Give us a hunger to know His character. Because we must trust Him with our cares. Remind us this day with all that is happening and all that is being planned that Jesus can relate to us; and can explain you to us.
