Advent, Day 15 – Jesus is our Peace

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” John 14:27

Just the other day, my wife mentioned something that we needed to do this week. My first reaction? A mix of panic and heaviness. Which is quite startling, because what she mentioned wasn’t impossible. Or new.

What I love about this verse is how Jesus knows us so well. Have you ever been troubled? Fearful? Overwhelmed? Uncertain about the future? Are those enjoyable sensations and moments?

Jesus knows what we go through, and He gives us the remedy: His peace. This gift comes to us not in drips and drabs; it doesn’t come with the sunshine and disappear with the clouds. His peace overcomes our troubles and fear. His peace is a gift that keeps on giving.

Take your cares to Jesus; your panic, your heavy burdens. What He gives in exchange is His peace!

A Prayer: Jesus, thank You for being the Prince of peace, giving freely and fully to Your people! Here are my cares; here is my moment of panic and heaviness. I put my trust in You!
