Starvation that leads to worship
Zephaniah 2:11 The Lord will be terrifying to them, for He will starve all the gods of the earth; and all the coastlands of the nations will bow down to Him, everyone from his own place.
Story: While I’ve had many times of being hungry, I don’t think I’ve ever experienced starvation. But to starve definitely means a loss of strength and energy. The LORD will starve all the gods of the earth – an ongoing display of His power and control that reveals the complete weakness and inability of all other gods. Doing so will be terrifying or awesome to all the people of the earth. The LORD will do this in such a way that all will know, not just a few people close to the action. Being terrified or awed at the LORD’s power and control, each person from his place will bow down in worship. There is only the LORD God.
My Prayer Response: Father, I am presently worried about many things, all feeling beyond my control. But nothing is above or beyond Your control and power. To fear You means I can cast my cares onto You, because You have them well in hand. Use me, in little or bold ways, today, so that others will fear You as the only LORD God and so worship You!
