Advent, Day 2 – Jesus is our Savior

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart …” Matthew 11:28-29a

To a crowd of people, Jesus gives this open invitation. You are invited to come to Him, to receive His rest, and to learn from Him. Jesus wants us to come to Him and learn His character. He tells us that He is gentle and humble in heart. Gentle is the idea of being tender or meek; humble is the idea of lowly. So Jesus understands us with our difficulties and our low moments of life. In short, Jesus is welcoming and accessible.

Sometimes we might think that we have too much sin for Jesus. Or too many difficulties. Or our problems are too complex. But, they are not too much for Jesus! He came to us so that we may come to Him. Even with all of our cares. Jesus invites you to learn who He is and to entrust Him with your problems.

A Prayer: Jesus, how grateful I am that you understand us and invite us to yourself – no matter what we are experiencing. Your offer of rest is a genuine promise and not pie in the sky that will never happen. Give us ears to hear how You are inviting us this advent to come to You, learn from You, and to find rest in You.
