Advent, Day 18 – Jesus is our Peace

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

Our God doesn’t make emotional, spontaneous promises that He can’t keep. Think about what God is promising here: that you, Christian, will be made entirely holy. God is sanctifying His people piece by piece so that every part of them (spirit, soul and body; inside and outside) is holy!

Great! But what does this have to do with peace? Or why does God let us know that He, the God of peace, will make this happen? Because God will not allow sin to remain in you. He will not accept anything in you that is contrary to His peace. The peace of Jesus Christ will have victory in you!

A Prayer: Father, thank You for being the God of peace who is making us holy! Let today be part of how You sanctify us, as You have promised.
