D.L Moody and the importance of Prayer

D.L Moody was an untrained preacher mightily used by God for the salvation of many during the late 1800’s. In a biographical sketch, an author pinpointed prayer as vital to the ministry of D.L. Moody. The noon prayer meeting was his most important meeting of the day. If the prayer meeting got dull or dead, he would pause, and seek to restart it afresh. He is quoted as saying, “I’d rather be able to pray than to be a great preacher. Jesus Christ never taught His disciples how to preach, but only how to pray.”

Almost 90 years after his death, Moody was instrumental in my own salvation. When I saw his prayer life through a Sunday evening drama, I realized I did not know Jesus personally like that.

May this encourage you to pray; renew you to pray with intensity and hunger; and motivate you to pray for what God wants, and not merely results you can see.
