The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, For in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock. Isaiah 26:3-4
Perfect peace! What a wonderful thought, like a soft and comfortable blanket on a cold day. To know that our God can wrap us up and keep us in His perfect peace, no matter what may be happening.
Having this perfect peace is about trust, which is said twice in this verse. Even the idea of being ‘steadfast of mind’ is another way of expressing trust in God.
God sends storms our way so that we can experience how perfect is His peace. He already knows the difficulty can never penetrate His protective peace. But God wants you to know this too. If our lives were easy, our trust in Him would be weak. Life’s challenges are strengthening moments, growing our trust in God and deepening our knowledge of Him. He has a hold of you, and will never let you go!
A Prayer: Father, life is busy this time of year. The thought of sitting still with You, enwrapped in Your perfect peace, is very appealing and comforting. Give us grace to practice today what we’ve been learning about Your peace!
