Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.” Matthew 2:1-2
We give gifts at Christmas time, and it’s so much fun. My kids have been keeping an eye on what’s under the tree. But the magi didn’t give their gifts for fun. They didn’t ask Jesus (or Mary) what was on the wish list. They didn’t pick up a gift card in Jerusalem, or a quick gift in Bethlehem. They gave gifts as part of their worship of Jesus.
The magi worshipped Jesus, though He was a child. Jesus was young enough that He probably couldn’t talk, so there was no sermon given. Neither did Jesus perform a miracle for them. They worshipped Him for who Jesus is; because He is the King.
So we too are to worship Him, for who He is; because He is our King!
A Prayer: Jesus, we worship You as our King. We humble ourselves before You to obey You. Fill us with Your joy and love as we submit all of who we are to You.
