Fear Journal – Day 150

Fear God and Trust His Plan

Hebrews 11:23, 27 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. … By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing Him who is unseen.

Story: A slave has no power before the king. So Moses’ parents were risking much to disobey the king’s edict for their baby Moses. They already had two children, but God gave them a third. What was it that so moved and motivated them to hide Moses? Faith. Again, we see that faith is the opposite of fear.

Likewise for Moses as a full grown adult. He had just murdered an Egyptian taskmaster and Exodus 2:14 says that Moses was afraid that this was becoming widely known. Indeed, it came to the ears of the king, who ordered Moses’ death (Exodus 2:15). Moses’ escape to the wilderness could be seen as an act of fear, running away from death. But Hebrews 11:27 says this was by faith, not fear. Moses knew he was God’s chosen deliverer, so he left for the wilderness. Nothing in Moses’ life prepared him at all for life in the wilderness; for most, it would have meant certain death. But Moses trusted God to protect him so that some later time and way, God would use Moses for Israel’s exodus.

My Prayer Response: Father, You always have a good plan for each of us. Give us the eyes of faith to see You and Your good plan in the midst of our circumstances. We must move and act on the basis of trust in You, not out of what those currently in authority say or expect. Let our fears became faith in You!

May you trust in Him who is unseen!
