But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near; for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. Ephesians 2:14-18
Is peace a truth you have? Or a feeling you enjoy? It can be both, but above all, it is truth.
Christians always have peace, even if they don’t always feel peace. Paul is writing about Jews and Gentiles; or the people of God’s promise, and the rest of the world. But for both, there is only one way to the Father, which is through the peace accomplished by Jesus Christ. In other words, peace is identical to salvation, which doesn’t come and go away based on how we feel in the moment.
Even more, this peace with God through Jesus extends to peace with fellow Christians. By His death on the cross, Jesus put to death everything that hinders any relationship among believers. When you have peace with God, then you have the first step to having peace with others.
A Prayer: Father, You have created us with strong feelings, but given to us an even stronger truth. Let us today focus on what is true more than what we feel.
