Fear Journal – Day 159

Look! Up in the Sky! It’s A …

Revelation 14:7 and he said with a loud voice, “Fear God, and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters.”

Story (by Hannah Ross): God warns people of His coming judgment or wrath by sending an angel to speak while flying in the sky. Throughout the 7 year Tribulation period, God has sent many messengers with warnings to give people a chance to repent (such as the two witnesses, and 144,000 servants). This is the first angelic messenger, but he does not come to earth. Instead, he flies directly overhead, speaking the eternal gospel. All can see him and hear him (v. 6). The Gospel calls people to repent of worshipping the beast. Instead, they are to fear God, give glory to God, and worship God. All these are equal terms, so that for us today to fear God is the same thing as worshipping God. It is more than being amazed at God’s power, or wanting to miss His wrath. Fearing God is a change of heart and a change of belief.

My Prayer Response: Father, how great is Your mercy, that You send this message to offer salvation. Even in the final moments. You are mighty to save, and desire then and now that all would be saved. As You enable us to fear, worship, and believe in You, would You also enable us to be Your messengers of the eternal gospel? Use us, please!

May you fear God and proclaim His eternal gospel!
